About the Author

I started my love affair with vampires as a kid by reading Bram Stoker’s Dracula. It was the only vampire book our little local library branch had back then. Then, I discovered mail order books and fell in love with the tortured characters in Interview with a Vampire.  In the mid 80’s, the most amazing thing happened! My family bought a VCR, and I was finally able to see movies! All the vampire flicks I could beg for flickered across the screen, making the love affair into a passionate, lifelong relationship. Today, I write fantasy and paranormal romance and never pass up a chance to pair up vampires with the less-than-usual characters. Witches and elves currently top my list. I love weaving vampires into legends and myths where none exist. It’s my private world of the erotic, weird, and wonderful, and I invite every reader to go along for the ride.

KIRU TAYE A #VALENTINE CHALLENGE TOUR AND #REVIEW

A Valentine Challenge
by
Kiru Taye

Contemporary, Multicultural, Romance

Challenge Series – Three friends. Three challenges.
Are they willing to risk everything for love?

Book 1 – A Valentine Challenge

Life is good for ex-soldier turned entrepreneur Michael Ede. Or so he thinks. When his friends set him a challenge to exorcise the memory of a woman from his past, he expects it to be a walk in the park.

Socialite Kasie Bosa is spitting fire at men. Her long-term boyfriend has asked for a break via text message of all things. Fuming, she’s told him to go take a dive off the nearest bridge. So the next man who crosses her path is at risk of being shredded with her spa manicured nails.

Bad news for Michael who has chosen her as the object of his challenge. But neither of them can deny the sizzling chemistry between them nor control their responses, it seems. It’s the season of love. Will they escape unscathed?

REVIEW:
How do you melt an ice princess? Take two broken hearts, toss in a bet by his two best friends, and add a dash of true love. Sounds like a recipe for a steamy romance to me!

Micheal is a well off, self-made millionaire with businesses as far as the eye can see. He has the money, the toys, and good looks. What he doesn't have is the girl of his dreams. Having been burned in the past by a spoiled, little, rich girl, he's hesitant to jump into love without very careful consideration. His two best friends hat seeing him alone and challenge him to woo a woman from an obviously well-to-do family. The trick is to do so as a lowly chauffeur or risk losing his beloved plane. The only thing they didn't do was triple dog dare the poor fella.

Kasie has problems of her own. She and her family are on the outs. Her boyfriend broke up with her and then lied about why, adding more strain to her family bonds. She travels for her job and isn't in the slightest happy with her new driver. However, there is something about his forceful presents and his good looks that she can't ignore. Unlike the other men in her past, he stands up to her and shows her a good time without trying to impress her. Can she overlook his job as her driver? And what will she do when she finds out who he really is and about the bet?
I have to say it.  I loved it! The tension balanced the story nicely. While not a long story, there's a lot going on here. Micheal's past bad experience with rich women and Kasie's crumpling family bond make both characters very easy to relate to. Both are strong-willed individuals, but on the inside, both are vulnerable. I wanted to cheer when Micheal told off her sister! The flow and pace is great. This one was a real page turner. I give Kiru Taye's A Valentine Challenge 4.5 stars!

Chapter One

I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress and grow brave by reflection. ~ Leonardo Da Vinci.

Trouble. He could spot it a mile away.

A man accustomed to dealing with danger in all guises, he'd come across its varied forms from the killing fields of Sierra Leone to the marshy jungle of the Niger Delta. Danger came in the form of men with machetes or AK47s and explosives packed into cars in crowded markets. Though scarred, he'd dealt with trouble and survived.

Yet, standing outside the front entrance of Park Hotel, Enugu, the light morning breeze fanning Michael Ede's face, his gut twisted with the awareness of a different kind of trouble.

Today, danger was disguised as a woman. A stunningly beautiful woman.

Sure, she had the poise and elegance of a well-bred lady. A white shirt and high-waist black trouser suit enhanced as well as hid a curvaceous figure in silk swatches, feet encased in black shiny leather peep-toe high-heeled pumps, jet-black hair pulled back in a chignon, blood-red lips  matched her toe nails, she exuded sophistication and class.

Perhaps it was the way she avoided eye contact or the vicelike grip she had on the Louis Vuitton satchel she clutched in her left hand, but some vulnerability seeped out of the exterior shell of elegance and connected with a part of him—the part currently buried under the rubble of a demolished heart. A flame ignited in his gut, licking his skin with hot yearning.

Danger signals resounded within his head, veins churning with rising adrenaline, all his attention focused on the object coming toward him, a sixty-kilogram missile made of flesh and bones.

Get out of here!

Ignoring the screeching warning, he stood his ground. A born fighter, he was no yellow feathered bird ready to take flight at the flicker of a storm. He never ran from danger.

Sashaying toward him, lips in a glorious pout, eyes amber-brown and captivating, she came to a halt more than two long strides away from him.

Did she know, if she came any closer he might not be able to keep his hands off her? He wanted to touch her caramel skin. Slide his tongue along the curve of her collarbone. Would she taste as delightful as the sweet?

Squeeze. Release. He curled fingers into his palms and unclenched them at his sides; the sound of his pounding heart rivalled the drumbeats heralding Obiagu masquerades.

Hot blood scorched his veins, his body ablaze with desire.  It had nothing to do with the early morning sun burning his back.

And everything to do with the woman standing before him. Trouble!

REVIEW: TAKING THE REIGNS BY JENNY MAY

Taking the Reins (Dark Days Ranch 4)

Zara is the future alpha to Triple Z. When she discovers Rogue and Cooper hiding in her barn, she instantly knows they’re meant to be mated. But she’s gone down this road before and miraculously survived the loss. Can she risk her heart to mates, again? Especially one who wants her birthright? Or will Zara do what she does best and push them away?

Triple Z is in need of a new alpha, and Rogue is all too willing to step up and make things safer for Dark Days and the rest of their surrounding territories. But when he realizes one of his mates is the daughter to his enemy, things heat up, fast. Can he step up to the role as Triple Z’s leader, or will his duty to his mate overshadow his obligations to his pack?

Review:

Love has a way of chasing us down, tackling us to the ground, and making us acknowledge it. In that moment of staring up at the thing that blindsided us, we can find a measure of happiness, if we it let it in even a wee-tiny bit. Poor Rouge. Cooper did just that. Together they did the same thing to Zara.

Rouge want to be a lone wolf. It's all he's ever known, but the mating bond is powerful stuff. He does his best to out run it, but it goes by the name of Cooper, who runs pretty fast himself! Rouge, like his brothers, was born to be an alpha. It seems strange to think he'd run from anything. With that said, love can be a scary thing. He can't fight it. He hide from it. He can't  deny it. So, what does he do? Dominate it.

Cooper isn't about to let Rouge stay a lone wolf. He just wants to make Rouge happy. Finding Zara was the unexpected bonus. In forcing his company on Rouge, Cooper finds himself looking down the hillside on a beautiful creature on horse back suffer the worst possible pain. There's nothing in the world he needs to do more than please Rouge and heal this grieving she-wolf.

Zara isn't just any widow pining for her dearly departed, human  husband. She's the heir to the Triple Z alpha, the man Rouge was sent to take down. The death of her first mate should have killed her, but Zara is made of strong stuff. The question is will she let Rouge and Cooper heal her broken heart or will she turn on them as enemies of her pack? Love has a way of doing funny things when we least expect it.

I liked how this one played on the theme of the series with a twist. In the previous three books, the alpha male was called on to take over a neighboring pack. This story is no different in that respect. The twist is falling in love with the old alpha's daughter. Her decisions and loyalties make a difference in how the story plays out. There are a few surprises along the way that keep this story moving at a good pace. How the death of her first husband plays into her final decision leaves the reader with a sense of justification and satisfaction. I give Taking the Reins by Jenny may 4 stars!

REVIEW: CRACK THE WHIP BY JENNY MAY

Crack The Whip (Dark Days Ranch 3)
Georgina’s seen both the good and the bad that comes from having mates. The love the bonding creates lasts a lifetime. But that’s just it. After she watches her mother die of a broken heart, the anxiety Georgina develops over bonding to Damien and Austin is well warranted. Can she get over her fear, or will she keep the pact with her brother that they’re better off alone?
Damien and Austin know they have to bring Georgina around to being their mate. After all, Damien sees the perfect submissive that Georgina is, and he wants her to embrace the life she’s been ordered to live by their alpha. But as things heat up between the three of them, a plea for Damien to take over The Big C leaves him with a tough decision. Does he try to become the alpha he’s always known himself to be, and risk making Georgina’s fear of losing one of her mates a possible reality? Or does he walk away from it all and face the consequences?

Review:

Georgie is very reluctant to develop her mating bond with Damien and Austin. Once her father died, Georgie and her brother watched her mother wither and die soon after. Not wanting to be like their mother, Georgie and her brother take a vow to never bond with a mate. However, Damien isn't going to take no for an answer, and Georgie likes it that way. Her brother's reaction turns very violent. Georgie's now in danger of being killed by her own brother over her broken vow.

Damien has been working security for the Dark Days Ranch pack and others. He's worked alone for years, and now it's time to settle down with his two mates. Convincing Georgie takes a little more effort, but that's not a problem for our hero. He's the Dom her submissive side can't wait to bow down to. But will he put being a reluctant a Alpha and take over a neighboring mismanages pack?

Austin is a wolf and use to having to follow his Alpha. What he doesn't count on is being submissive to Damien in bed. The threesome takes some time to get use to and he has a part to play in getting Georgie to accept both his and Damien's love and affection. But her brother is a problem. Would she blame him and let grief come between them if Austin is forced to kill her brother to protect her?

Crack the Whip has several interesting complex sub-plots going on at the same time. Georgie not only has to deal with Damien's potential fight to the death but also with her struggle to not be like her mother. She's ordered by the pack alpha to live with Austin and Damien, and although part of her can't wait to submit to Damien's demands, she really wants to bolt like a spooked horse. Then there's Damien, he has his own internal conflicts. He was born to be an Alpha in his own right. He just doesn't want the job. What would happen to Georgie if her worst fears were realized with his death? It's a lot of him to consider. Then there's Austin. He's a good fighter and strong wolf, but he's not yet in touch with his submissive side.

I enjoyed watching the characters work out their individual problems and finally find their happy medium. The bondage wasn't intense, but it certainly was hot! This one turned out to be a real page turner. I'm not sure I call this one a safe work read, but a quiet moment alone with a glass of wine would make for an interesting evening. Crack the Whip gets 4 stars!
